Before turf fields existed, Indigenous communities played lacrosse in open meadows and forest clearings across North America. People called it The Creator’s Game not because it belonged to one person, but because it was given as a spiritual gift. The game served many purposes — to settle disputes, honor ancestors, heal communities, and connect players with something greater than themselves.
